LeftHand Land Management establishes trees and woody habitats around the needs of the site, surrounding land use and intended long-term outcome. We deliver practical tree and habitat planting for farms, estates, rural organisations, conservation projects and planning-led schemes across the South West.
Projects can be delivered directly with the landowner or from an approved ecological, BNG, landscape or agroforestry specification. Our focus is careful establishment, appropriate protection and a clear route into aftercare.

From setting out to completion
Successful planting begins before the plants arrive. Access, ground conditions, spacing, planting pattern, stock pressure, browsing risk and future maintenance all need to be understood. LeftHand can provide practical input on delivery and sequencing, then undertake setting out, site preparation, planting, protection and completion records.
Where a professional adviser has designed the scheme, we work to the agreed plan and raise practical questions early. This helps avoid preventable problems around access, incompatible guards, difficult maintenance routes or planting layouts that do not fit how the land is used.
BNG and planning-led planting
For Biodiversity Net Gain and other planning-led schemes, LeftHand can deliver work to an approved habitat, ecological or landscape specification. We can record what was planted, where it was installed and any agreed substitutions or site constraints, giving the responsible consultant or landowner a clear account of delivery.
Planting can include native trees, hedgerows, orchards, mixed scrub, wood pasture and habitat plugs. Where required, the contract can continue into scheduled inspections, vegetation management, guard maintenance and replacement planting.
Planting that can be maintained
A scheme should not only look correct on the planting plan. It needs to remain accessible and manageable after installation. We consider future vegetation control, access between rows, guard inspection, livestock management and replacement planting as part of the establishment process.
